The Rathi Group’s research interests lie at the interface of chemistry and biology. The group focuses on
medicinal chemistry and drug-discovery approaches aimed at developing novel therapeutics for parasitic
diseases, cancer, topical applications, and rare diseases.
A key area of interest is the discovery of new molecules capable of targeting the parasite at multiple
stages of its life cycle—including the liver stage, the asexual blood stage, the gametocyte stage, and
the insect ookinete stage—thereby achieving multi-stage ant parasitic activity.
Another major research thrust is the development of sustainable and facile synthetic methodologies for
producing Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and other drug molecules of importance to the
pharmaceutical industry.
